Ernest Gébler

Ernest Gébler (Dublin, 1914 or 1915 - Dublin, 26 January 1998) was an Irish born writer. Gébler was a member of Aosdána. He was married to writer Edna O'Brien, from whom he was later divorced.[1]

Gébler's mother was an usherette in a Dublin theatre, his father an Austro-Hungarian musician who had settled in Dublin.[2]

Gébler wrote books and plays. The Plymouth adventure: The voyage of the "Mayflower" was his bestseller. It sold 5 million copies and was filmed. Another book Hoffman (also known as Shall I Eat You Now?), was filmed and starred Peter Sellers.
